God's Voice

Matthew 17:5: “While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him;”
Matthew 28:18: “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
Hebrews 1:1,2: “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son.”
According to these verses, Christ is the one we are to listen to and follow his words. We have the example of Christ saying what God told him to say. John 12:49-50 says, “For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”
John 14:31 says, “The world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.”
Christ is very specific in these verses. He wants it clear and beyond any doubt that he said and did precisely what God commanded him to say and do. This should be very clear to us today, that we cannot and must not depart from God’s Word! God has made known his Word today through the Bible. What a blessing it is to have the Will of God revealed to us. God has not left us without a pattern and plan for our lives. We do not have to wonder and aimlessly drift along through this life.
Jeremiah 29:ll says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God had a plan for His people in the Old Testament. He has a plan and purpose for His people today. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, and reveals His plan and purpose. As we read and study the Bible, it is Christ speaking God’s Words to us. This should motivate us to pay closer attention to what the Bible says, and let it instill in us a thirst for more and more of God’s Word. Let us meditate on it and fill our minds with it’s message. LISTEN TO HIM!
