God's Hedge

Job 1:10 “Have you not put a hedge around him?” Satan recognized God’s protection over Job. God has a hedge around His people today. Satan has been bound. If we stay within the hedge, Satan cannot harm us. It is only when we vault over God’s limits in rebellion that we become susceptible to the temptations of Satan.

Psalm 139:5, “You hem me in – behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.” David knew God’s hedge. As God’s people today, we have this assurance.

Psalm 121:7-8, “The Lord will keep you from all harm – He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” How good it is to be the people of God!

John 10:27-30, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” As long as we follow Christ as our shepherd Satan cannot destroy us. It is only when we turn away from God’s ways that
we become victims of the schemes of Satan.

1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” When we are tempted, we need to pray and think on God’s Word. It becomes a hedge between us and the temptation. We are not going to yield to temptations while we are praying and meditating on God’s Word. We must become knowledgeable with the Bible, so whenever we are tempted, we know what is written, and can use it to escape the temptation. How blessed we are as God’s people, knowing He loves us so much, and has greatly provided for us.

1 Peter 1:3-5, “Praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”

Praise be to God for the great gift He has provided for us! Thanks be to God for our faith that enables God to shield us with His power! Thank you God for the hedge around us!

Matthew 26:41, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
